The Auction Process

What is the process if I want to have an auction?

  1. Call 1-617-749-4049 and ask to speak to an Auction Representative to schedule a time for him to inspect the items you are considering putting on the Auction block.
  2. After meeting with your CIA LLC Representative he or she will provide you with a free Auction Proposal regarding the prospect of conducting an Auction including estimates on costs, etc., Look over the proposal carefully and ask your Auction Representative any pertinent questions.
  3. Arrange an Auction date with your Auction Manager.
  4. According to the timeline included in your Auction Proposal, advertising will begin to appear in newspapers, trade publications, etc., and brochures will be mailed to prospective and interested buyers. Our Marketing Coordinator will keep you up to date on the progress of the advertising.
  5. Nancy Schremp or Mark Sullivan, part of our friendly and knowledgeable setup crew will complete any arranging, tagging, and cataloging determined necessary in discussions between you and your Auction Manager.
  6. Auction Days - enjoy the lively atmosphere of excited buyers bidding against one another on line in the hopes that they may soon own what you are selling. Our professional team of Auctioneers, Bid Assistants, and Office Staff will attend to every detail. We are fully computerized to move things along efficiently from registering buyers to clerking the sale to cashing out buyers to providing you with a full set of computer generated reports shortly after the Auction is complete.
  7. Look over the reports given to you by CIA LLC at the end of the Auction Day including a complete account of every item sold on your auction. If you have any questions, our Manager or your Auction Manager will gladly answer them. In addition, they will keep you up to date on the process of closing out your Auction.
  8. Within 10 to 14 business days CIA LLC will provide you with an Auction Closeout information Packet including a complete itemization of sales, commission, and expenses (i.e., advertising, labor, miscellaneous) and (of course) your check.
  9. Shortly after receiving your packet, we will send a survey to you inviting you to tell us how we did. We take comments from such surveys very seriously as we continually try to improve and expand our services.
